AUTHORITIES in Miri have detained a Zimbabwe national who skipped home quarantine, the Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) disclosed yesterday.

“The man was ordered to undergo home quarantine but left the house,” the SDMC said in a statement.

No detail was available on when the arrest was made and why the suspect was home quarantined.

The SDMC also revealed that the Ministry of Housing and Local Government has issued 47 compounds state-wide yesterday, including one for holding a live band. This brings to 261 compounds issued by the various local authorities since Februrary.

The top offence was not updating the registration book (15 compounds) followed by failure to register using the MySejahtera app or the registration logbook (six).

The SDMC also announced that the police have issued 23 new compounds, with the tally now at 6,295 since March 18, 2020.

Of the 23 new compounds, 10 were issued in Bintulu, followed by Kuching (7), Mukah (5) and Padawan (1). The offences included not wearing facemasks and making inter-zone travels without permits.
