A WOMAN from Kunak, Sabah who was found unconscious at home has tested positive for Covid-19. Eight of her close contact have also been infected with the virus, with a new cluster, Pulau, declared.
Health Director-General Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said the woman, 68, was suffering from cardiac arrest, stroke and liver ailments and was confirmed Covid-19 positive on Sept 13.
“She is now being treated in the hospital’s intensive care unit and require respiratory support. Following screenings with close contact and active case detection, eight other positive cases were discovered, all of whom are her family members,” Dr Noor Hisham said in a statement.
The source of the infection was still being investigated, he added.
Dr Noor Hisham also announced that the 23 new Covid-19 cases today, including 10 imported cases. There were no new cases from Sarawak
Sabah recorded the highest number of cases – 13 cases, including eight from the Pulau cluster and four from the Benteng LD cluster.
There were no cases reported in Kedah.
The new infections bring the number of cases to 9,969.
Six patients were discharged today, bringing the total number of recoveries to 9,209. There are 632 active cases currently.
