DAP Bandar Kuching MP Dr Kelvin Yii has questioned the presence of Head of State Tun Pehin Sri Abdul Taib Mahmud’s daughter in Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin’s cabinet.
“One of my biggest questions is the presence of (Mukah MP) Datuk Hanifah Taib in the list – she (even) barely speaks nor is present in Parliament.
I guess someone’s hidden hand is still very powerful,” he posted in his Facebook account following the announcement of the new line-up.
Hanifah, the youngest among four siblings, was among the new faces to contest under then Barisan Nasional in the 14th General Election and won the parliamentary seat.
Dr Yii added that the new cabinet with 70 people or ministers in, it is likely to appease the different groups and reward those that jumped over.
“Comparing with the previous cabinet line-up, there were about 58 representatives – as one of the reasons was to cut down the cost and optimise human resource, hence, the small-sized cabinet,” he added.
