Weapons, drugs seized in Serikin drug raid

THREE male suspect aged between 18 and 36-years-old were arrested by the police during a drug raid at a house in Kampung Serikin, Bau at around 8.30pm on Feb 26.

Sarawak Narcotics Criminal Investigation Department (NCID) acting chief DSP Tumar Lunya in a statement today revealed that one of the suspects was a local from Kampung Serikin, while the other two were from Jagoi Babang, Indonesia.

“During the raid, police found one plastic packet and 13 straw tubes containing drugs believed to be syabu (methamphetamine) estimated to have a street value of RM500,” said Tumar.

Police also discovered four air rifles, 1,000 air rifle pellets, one crossbow and nine arrows after raiding the house.

The suspects, she said, also tested positive for methamphetamine and amphetamine. None of the suspects have a past criminal record.

She said the case has been classified under Section 12(2) and Section 15(1)(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952; Section 8 of the Arms Act 1960 and Section 6(1) of the Corrosive and Explosive Substances and Offensive Weapons Act 1958.

The suspects are also under remand to assist police in their investigation. – Borneo Post.
