Wandering Miri girl reunited with family

A THREE-YEAR-OLD girl found wandering alone in Miri on Friday, has been reunited with her family.

Miri Residents Committee chairman Malateh Mahmud said patrol members on their way to mosque for Friday prayers spotted the barefooted girl in the area wandering alone in front of a school at Jalan Datuk Edward Jeli in Piasau.

According to a Borneo Post report, they then informed the police who arrived and recorded details of the lost girl.

“The girl was taken to the house of a Miri RC patrol member who then posted her photo on social media to locate her parents or guardian.

“A man who saw the post went to the patrol member’s house and took them to the girl’s house, which is located some 500m from where she was found.

“The girl has returned to her family, safe and sound,” said Malateh.

“This is the second such incident. The first occurred two days earlier and she was also sent home,” added Malateh.

It is learned that the girl is living with her elder sister and their widowed mother.
