A TWO-year-old boy died at the Betong Hospital yesterday from suspected abuse by family members.

Sarawak police commissioner Datuk Aidi Ismail said a medical officer from the hospital lodged a police report at 3pm after the boy was brought in unconscious and later pronounced dead.

He said the medical officer found signs of abuse on the victim’s body.

“Four people, aged 22 to 65, including the victim’s mother were picked up by the police at 3.45pm following the report by the hospital,” he said when contacted.

Police would be submitting a remand application for the suspects, and the case is being investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder.

Aidi also urged the public to refrain from making speculations and allow the police to investigate the case thoroughly to identify those responsible for the death of the young victim. – The New Straits Times
