Total number of Covid-19 cases in Sarawak almost hitting 60,000

TWO new Covid-19 related deaths were recorded in Sarawak today, while 661 new cases were reported.

This, said the Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) brings the total number of cases in the state to 59,800 and the death toll to 380.

Sibu topped the list with the most number of cases with 134, followed by Kuching, Bintulu, Subis and Miri.

The two new deaths involved women, one each in Miri and Sibu.

As for recoveries, SDMC said a total 49,171 cases were recorded, including 485 today.

Nationwide, Malaysia registered 5,293 new Covid-19 cases over the past 24-hours, taking the nation toll to 696,408.

Selangor remained the state with highest daily infections recorded with 1,680 cases, followed by Negri Sembilan with 693, Sarawak (661) and Johor (627).

Also recording three-digit cases were Kuala Lumpur with 379, Perak (205), Melaka (183), Kedah (170), Kelantan (167), Sabah (163), Labuan (156) and Penang (114).

“Pahang recorded 77 new cases, followed by Terengganu (12), Putrajaya (four) and Perlis with two cases.”

Yesterday, Malaysia recorded 5,911 new cases, and 72 fatalities.
