A RESTAURANT staff in Satok, Sarawak was slapped after he asked a couple to put on a face mask before entering the premises.

In the incident on July 15, the couple was about to enter the restaurant but was told to put on a mask first as a precaution against the spread of Covid-19.

The couple then kicked up a fuss, saying that other restaurants did not have such a rule, Sin Chew Daily reported.

The commotion then attracted considerable attention including from other diners in the restaurant, leading the male companion to start berating the onlookers. This was when another restaurant staff emerged from the kitchen to try to calm things down.

But he was slapped by the male companion for “being a busybody” before the duo left. The incident was captured on the shop’s CCTV.

Later, the restaurant received a phone call from an anonymous caller who complained that staff in the premises were rude and stopped patrons from having a meal there. It is uncertain if the call was linked to the incident.
