Three new clusters in Sarawak, including hospital in Kuching

THERE are three new Covid-19 clusters in Sarawak today, including one at the Sentosa Hospital in Kuching.

This is the second time a cluster has been declared at the hospital, with the first one being in July last year.

The Sarawak Disaster Management Committee said the cluster – Sentosa 2 Cluster – involved staff and residents of the health facility.

There are 52 positive cases so far in the cluster.

SDMC said the other two clusters are the Doyoh Cluster in Bau and the Jalan Teo Kui Ngo Cluster in Meradong.

The Doyoh Cluster is a community cluster with 22 cases out of 82 screenings.

The Jalan Teo Kui Ngo Cluster is also a community cluster and has 13 cases so far.

Sarawak has 98 active clusters, with 10 of them recording new cases.

Meanwhile, almost 50% of Sarawak’s 289 new Covid-19 cases are from Kuching district with 137 cases.

Two deaths were reported, in Serian and Kapit, bringing the death toll to 439.
