THERE has been another fishing boat tragedy in Sarawak today, making it the third in two days as the state suffers from stormy weather.
In the latest incident that happened at about 10am today, a boat capsized off the coast of Pantai Alit in Kabong district, about 300km north of Kuching.
According to a report from The Star, the Sarawak Fire and Rescue Department said the body of a dead person has been found floating at the river mouth near a village called Kampung Alit.
“Two others in the boat have been found alive and rescued. They have been sent to the Kabong Clinic,” the department said.
The search teams are still in the process of gathering information on how many were in the boat, and how the incident happened.
The Pantai Alit incident is the third boat tragedy in the coastal waters of southern and northern Sarawak since Wednesday.
Five male fishermen were found alive and rescued off the coast of Tanjung Po near the Bako National Park, after their boat capsized on Wednesday.
Two men are still missing off Kuala Serupai in Tatau district in northern Sarawak in a separate boat tragedy yesterday.
The search and rescue operation is still on in the seas off Tatau, about 300km south of Miri.
