Stop using us as a punching bag, says Johor DAP youth

JOHOR DAP Youth chief Sheikh Umar Bagharib Ali has taken Federal Territories Minister Annuar Musa to task, saying that even when his party is not part of the government, the latter still uses it as a punching bag.

“In essence, Annuar Musa’s statement (as reported in Sin Chew Jit Poh) is that Umno should reject DAP because if it cooperates with DAP, it will lose all seats in GE15.

“Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin who used the same reasoning and triggered the Sheraton Move a year ago.

“After that, the DAP party is no longer part of the government, but every time there is a fight between these Perikatan Nasional parties, DAP’s name is used,” said Sheikh Umar as reported by Malaysiakini.

Ketereh MP Annuar who was recently replaced as BN secretary-general has consistently been at the vanguard of rejecting any form of political cooperation with DAP and PKR president Anwar Ibrahim.

Instead, he has pushed Umno to remain a party that champions Malay and Muslim party solidarity and resolve its increasingly bitter relationship with splinter party Bersatu.

“This gives a picture that they are very weak.

“They are supposed to be great but have to rely on DAP to be used as a ‘punching bag’ to cover administrative weaknesses as well as internal disputes.

“Not to mention – running a government without a majority,” said Sheikh Umar, who is also Paloh state assemblyperson.

He said that DAP grassroots leaders and staff are busy serving the people at this critical time when they are combating floods, the Covid-19 pandemic and economic pressures.

“(Annuar should) help the people and help the less fortunate instead of looking for a third party to blame to cover up one’s own weaknesses,” he said.
