THE Health Ministry should speed up the process of declaring a new Covid-19 cluster in the interest of public health.

The Local Government and Housing Minister Datuk Seri Dr Sim Kui Hian said 25 Covid-19 cases that were reported yesterday (May 5) were close contacts of confirmed cases from various locations in Kuching.

However, some were repeated locations – where more cases were detected previously or ‘repeatedly’.

“As Kuching is a high density population with a lot of economic activity and mobility, we must be on very high alert as it can just cause an explosion of outbreaks,” he wrote on his Facebook page.

“Expect those repeated locations to be declared as new clusters by the Health Ministry and wish it could be done sooner for the interest of public health,” he said.

Among the locations include – SPS Stapok, Taman BDC, Taman Desa Wira, Taman Green Acres, Taman Victoria, Taman Satria Jaya, De Loft Residence, Stapok Utama, Dalat Flat, Bormill Estate, Samajaya apartment, Jalan Penrissen, Khin Kueh Kiong @ India Street, Kai Joo Lane, Prime Avenue, Kampung Segubang, Kampung Sungai Lumut, Kampung Bako Hilir, Kampung Kudeo A, Kampung Kolong 2, Tabuan Hilir, RPR Fasa 3 Landeh.
