Soo to contest Padungan despite it considered a DAP safe seat

ASPIRASI president Lina Soo has confirmed that she will be contesting in Padungan in the 12th state election despite it considered a safe seat for DAP.

“Although it is one of the safest seats for DAP, I have made up my mind to contest in Padungan as this is my kampung (village) and it will mark my first battle here,” she said.

She claimed that the Sarawak DAP chief is expected to switch to contest in Padungan as the incumbent Wong King Wei had left DAP and confirmed will not contest again.

According to her, SUPP’s ‘aspirants’ have been moving on the ground, Borneo Post reported.

She also said the Kuching South (MBKS) Mayor Datuk Wee Hong Seng had been rumoured to be the SUPP candidate for Padungan.

However, a source said Bong Lian Huan and Jong Yean Pin remain as proposed SUPP candidates for Padungan.

The source also said that, “Wee is very active in the media and (this) could be read as (being) interested.”
