HEALTH Minister Datuk Seri Dr Adham Baba is again in the limelight for yet another gaffe after claiming to have spoken to 500 countries.
In a video conference with Umno president Datuk Seri Zahid Hamidi in an Umno Online segment titled Hello Bersama Presiden UMNO Malaysia, the two leaders spoke about the Covid-19 situation in the country.
In a major slip of the tongue, Dr Adham said he had live video conferences with the World Health Organisation (WHO), 500 countries.
“I had a live teleconference with WHO, 500 countries. Then I had a teleconference with China’s and Singapore’s health ministers, a live video (call) with Asean ministers…
“I am lucky to be able to communicate with the global community on Covid-19 and am confident social media can help us. My tag line is we (will) win,” he said in the video.
Depending on the source of reference, there are less than 200 listed countries in the world currently.
Malaysians were quick to spot the mistake in the minister’s comment and social media is now ablaze with memes and comments poking fun at the minister.
His gaffe comes barely a month after he suggested that drinking warm water would prevent Covid-19 infection.
During a live interview, Dr Adham said the virus behind the Covid-19 outbreak “doesn’t like high temperatures” and advocated drinking warm water as means of prevention.
