SMK Bandar Bintulu closed after student test positive for Covid-19

SMK Bandar Bintulu has been ordered to close for seven days after a student tested positive for Covid-19 last week.

Sarawak Disaster Management Committee said in a statement today said the closure was to enable cleaning and disinfection operations to be conducted thoroughly.

“The state education department has issued a notice to the school to close until Oct 16,” said the committee.

Meanwhile, Sarawak reported one imported Covid-19 case in Kota Samarahan today.

The patient, a Sarawakaian man who work at a construction company had traveled to Sabah, between Sept 20 and Oct 1 .

“He was ordered to undergo a 14-day home quarantine although his swab test at the Kuching International Airport on Oct 1 was negative. But, the result of his second test came back positive yesterday.

He has been taken to the Sarawak General Hospital for treatment,” said the committee.

To date, Sarawak has recorded a total of 752 cases, including 19 deaths.
