ONE of the three suspects believed to be involved in the shooting case at Sungai Paradom in Sibu yesterday has been arrested.

Sibu police chief ACP Stanley Jonathan Ringgit said the suspect was picked up at a ferry point in Sungai Paradom around 2.30pm today, Borneo Post reported.

“His two younger brothers are still at large. We are appealing to members of the public to supply information if they know the whereabouts of the suspects.

“They are dangerous and one of them is carrying a shotgun,” he said, adding that the trio have previous criminal records.

Stanley said in the incident which occurred around 5pm on Sunday, the 38-year-old victim was allegedly disturbed by the suspect when he was fishing with his friend there.

He said a fight ensued later, which caused the victim to hit the suspect with a wooden stick.

Stanley also said one of the suspect’s brothers had allegedly fired at the victim using an unlicensed shotgun.

He added that the police will apply for a remand order on the suspect tomorrow.

The case is being investigated under Section 307 of the Penal Code for attempted murder.

Meanwhile, photos of the victim with his face riddled with pellets have gone viral on social media.

Stanley said the victim has since undergone an operation last night and is now in a stable condition.
