Several Teluk Intan Hospital staff infected with Covid-19

SEVERAL medical staff from the Teluk Intan Hospital have been tested positive for Covid-19 and efforts are underway to contain the spread and monitor the situation closely, Health director-general Datuk Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said.

He added that the hospital’s senior management and the Hilir Perak district health office has taken have immediate steps to minimise exposure to staff ever since the first case of Covid-19 was confirmed there.

“The public should not spread unverified news as this will cause unnecessary anxiety,” Dr Noor Hisham said this in a Facebook posting this morning.

Dr Noor Hisham statement is believed to be referring to an unverified post being shared online alleging medical staff from the hospital had tested positive for Covid-19.

The post had taken hospital management to task for allegedly not conducting health screenings after one medical personnel was suspected to have infected other colleagues.

Noor Hisham had previously said a total of 19 Health Ministry staff and five employees at private medical facilities in the country have been infected with the virus.
