DAP Bandar Kuching Member of Parliament Dr Kelvin Yii Lee Wuen has became the second MP in Sarawak to test positive for Covid-19. The 33-year-old lawmaker said he was admitted to the Sarawak General Hospital late last night.
“I had contact with Sarikei MP Wong Ling Biu on March 2. However, I have not shown any symptoms for the past 14 days,” he posted on his Facebook account.
Wong was the first MP who tested positive for the disease. His son, the national hammer thrower Jackie Wong Siew Cheer also confirmed having contracted the virus.
Dr Yii said state DAP chairman and Stampin MP Chong Chieng Jen who took the test with him, has tested negative.
“I am still asymptomatic (showing no symptoms) and in stable condition. Thus, the risk of me being highly infectious is much lower,” he explained.
Sarawak Health Department is currently tracing and identifying other possible contact and source of infection.
“Those who had came into contact with me are told not to panic but to continue to take the necessary precautions to avoid the spread of the virus.
They must seek medical assistance to address their condition if they show any symptoms,” he stressed. The MP also apologized for all the inconvenience caused.
