LOCAL Government and Housing Minister Datuk Seri Dr Sim Kui Hian has confirmed that Sarikei MP Andrew Wong Ling Biu is under intubation at Sibu Hospital after contracting Covid-19.

According to DayakDaily, Wong’s condition is reportedly critical but stable.

Dr Sim said the Sarawak government is still tracing Wong’s movements and the where he could have contracted the virus from.

“We are still tracing. The patient is still intubated and therefore he is unable to tell us.

“However, we are almost certain that the virus was imported from Kuala Lumpur because before this, there were no positive cases in Sarawak.

“This also includes Bandar Kuching MP Dr Kelvin Yii and a 60-year-old pastor (who died yesterday). We are still unsure of the origin for these three,” he said.

The three cases were not linked to the tabligh event cluster at Jamek Sri Petaling Mosque.

The pastor from Emmanuel Baptist Church Kuching had died at 11am at the Sarawak General Hospital.

He was the first of two Covid-19-related deaths recorded in the country, with the second fatality involving a 34-year-old man who had attended the tabligh gathering.
