Sarawak’s total Covid-19 cases breach 20,000-mark

SARAWAK recorded 443 new Covid-19 cases today, pushing the tally to 20,001, with four new cluster declared, half of the total nationwide.

Most of the new cases in Sarawak were reported in Bintulu (101), followed by Kuching (41), Miri (35), Sibu (32), and Matu (26), the Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) said in a statement.

The new clusters in Sarawak are Jalan Bambangan in Mukah and Dalat, Jalan Badarudin in Kuching and Samarahan, Nanga Kelangas in Julau and Abak Bon in Miri and Subis. The latter two are community clusters, with the remaining from the workplace.

The SDMC also announced that 333 Covid-19 patients had been discharged today, with the total recoveries now at 16,244.

Nationwide, 1,739 new cases were reported today, pushing the tall to 360,856 cases, said Health Director-General Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah.

Eight new deaths were reported nationwide, with the cumulative death toll now at 1,329.

Besides the four in Sarawak, other clusters were in Selangor, Kelantan and Sabah.
