Sarawak’s new Covid-19 cases back to over 200

SARAWAK recorded 222 new Covid-19 cases today, after five days of registering new daily cases of below 200.

This brings the number of Covid-19 cases in the state to 12,273, the Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) said in a statement today.

Of today’s new cases, 167 were traced to individuals undergoing quarantine after they were found to be close contact of Covid-19 patients.

Most of the new cases were from Miri (57) followed by Sibu (38), Kuching (29), Bintulu (25), Betong (12), Meradong (12), and Julau (10).

The SDMC also announced that 236 Covid-19 patients had been discharged from hospitals throughout Sarawak today, with the total recoveries now at 9,826 cases or a recovery rate of 80.06 per cent.

Sarawak recorded 201 new Covid-19 cases on March 7.

Meanwhile, 1,470 new cases were reported nationwide today, with the national tally now at 322,409 cases, Health Director-General Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said.

Three new deaths were also reported with the death toll now at 1,206.
