Sarawak rolls out seven extended benefits under BKSS worth RM104 mil

E-HAILING drivers and driving instructors in Sarawak will receive a one-off RM500 assistance under the seven new measures in the state government’s Bantuan Khas Sarawakku Sayang (BKSS) 4.0 stimulus package.

Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Abang Openg when announcing the extra measures of BKSS 4.0 today, said the financial assistance will benefit 2,396 e-hailing drivers and 791 driving instructors in the state.

He also said domestic, commercial and industrial consumers will continue to be given discount of 5% to 25% on their monthly electricity bills and 10% to 25% on their monthly water bills, from October until December.

“We are also giving a 50% discount on HDC house rentals for three months (October – December), which will benefit more than 3,200 families renting HDC houses throughout Sarawak,” he said in a press conference at Wisma Bapa in Kuching.

To assist hawkers and traders, the government will give a 50% discount on market and stall rentals for the same period, benefiting over 10,000 of them.

“We also decided to waive the permit and license fees for traders, hawkers, night market traders and tamu operators and also waive the rentals to SMEs operating on premises owned by state government-linked companies and statutory bodies.”

He said the seven extended measures under the BKSS 4.0 will cost the Sarawak government RM104.84 million.

Abang Johari said the GPS government had implemented BKSS 1.0, BKSS 2.0 and BKSS 3.0 worth RM2.55 billion that has benefited about 3.08 million people from various group such as the B40 groups, frontliners, transportation sector, tourism sector and the businesses sector.
