A BOY, two, is among the 10 new Covid-19 positive cases reported today from the Greenhill cluster in Kuching – the youngest ever patient to contract the coronavirus in the state. This brings the tally in the state now to 856 cases.

Four new cases were reported today from the cluster, the largest active one in Sarawak with 29 cases so far. The other three new cases from the cluster were close or social contact of confirmed patients, the State Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) said in a statement today.

The SDMC also announced that two new import cases were reported today. They are women from West Kalimantan, Indonesia who entered the state under the medical tourism programme.

“The patient and her companion received approval to seek treatment in a private hospital in Kuching. They entered Kuching on Oct 21 and were tested for Covid-19 on the same day and the results returned negative.

“A second test was conducted on the duo on Oct 28 and both were found to be Covid-19 positive,” the SDMC said, adding that they are now receiving treatment at the Sarawak General Hospital.

Other new cases today include three from the Baki cluster and one from active case detection, a woman who worked in a beauty salon in Galacity, Kuching.

The SDMC also announced that five patients were discharged today, with the total in the state now at 743 or a recovery rate of 86.8 per cent.

“On Oct 26, active case detection was conducted in Galacity, Kuching, with 278 individuals screened, with one confirmed positive,” the SDMC added.
