CHIEF Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Openg said it is not Gabungan Parti Sarawak’s (GPS) top priority to secure new Federal Cabinet posts when the coalition backed Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin to be the Prime Minister.

But, if there were any such offers, he would look into it.

“That’s (Cabinet posts) secondary. Wait first. If they invite us (to discuss on the federal cabinet), then we will see. Sarawak interest first,” he said, Borneo Post reported.

The GPS chairman said the political turmoil in the country proved that coalition made the right decision to quit Barisan Nasional (BN) after the Federal coalition was defeated in the 2018 general election.

“If we were now still with BN, Sarawak would not have any say in resolving the crisis last week,” he told reporters after the launch of Sarawak World Interfaith Harmony Week 2020 on Tuesday.

“But now we are on our own, they had to look for me even when I was in Sungai Asap (attending a function on Feb 29),” he added.

According to TV Sarawak, Abang Johari received a call from Istana Negara around 4pm, an hour before the announcement of the 8th prime minister.

He reiterated that his decision was to end the week-long political impasses in the country.
