SARAWAK Energy Berhad (SEB) will extend electricity bill discounts under the Malaysian Economic and Rakyat’s Protection Assistance Package (Permai) and Bantuan Khas Sarawakku Sayang (BKSS) 5.0.
Under BKSS 5.0, about 640,000 customers from the domestic, commercial and industrial sectors will receive a five to 25 percent discount on their electricity bills.
The discount will be extended till June 30 and will cost the state government approximately RM166.2 million.
A 15 percent discount was given to six commercial sectors, namely hotel operators, theme parks, convention centres, shopping malls, local airline offices, and travel and tour agencies.
According to the New Sarawak Tribune, the discount for these sectors will be extended till March 31 under both Permai and BKSS packages.
However, the state government will continue the discount for the commercial sectors from April to June by toping up the additional 10 percent subsidiary.
The discount will be reflected in the electricity bills from today (Jan 25) onwards following the announcements of the new assistance packages.
Customers who have been billed for their electricity consumption prior to today’s date (Jan 25) will have their discounts for that period reflected in their electricity bills by March.
