A 52-year-old politician from Sabah was charged in the Kota Kinabalu Magistrate’s Court today for five counts of sexual assault on an Unduk Ngadau beauty pageant contestant and another woman.
Phillip Among @ Daniel Dell Fidelis pleaded not guilty to all charges under Section 354 of the Penal Code.
He made the plea before magistrate Jessica Ombou Kakayun.
He faces four counts of molesting the contestant on May 19 this year at four different times at separate locations in Kota Kinabalu.
Phillip was also accused of molesting another woman on April 17 this year, also in Kota Kinabalu.
If found guilty, he could be jailed up to 10 years or fined with whipping or any two of the punishments.
On the first count, Phillip was accused of molesting a woman at a living room of a premises at Asia City at 11pm on April 17.
On the second to the fifth counts, he was alleged to have molested the UN contestant at a studio at Asia City, inside a car, at the staircase beside a photo studio and at an office at Metrotown at 3.30pm, 9.45pm, 2pm and 10pm respectively on May 19.
The court fixed July 14, 21 and 22 for pre-trial case management and released the accused on an RM8,000 bail for each of the charges with two local sureties.
Counsels Marcel Jude Joseph and Abdul Fikry Jaafar Abdullah represented the accused.
