THE National Higher Education Loan Corporation (PTPTN) has deferred the repayment of loans from borrowers for another three months due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

Higher Education Minister Datuk Seri Dr Noraini Ahmad said the decision was made as many borrowers were affected by the Covid-19 pandemic and could not repay their respective loans.

“Borrowers can apply for the deferment via PTPTN’s official portal between Jan 5 2021 and 31 March 2021.

“The deferment would commence from the month the application is approved,” Noraini said in a statement.

She added that those who needed further clarification could contact Careline PTPTN at 03-2193 3000 from Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm.

In March, the government had announced that PTPTN repayments would be put on hold until Dec 31 due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

Last week, DAP’s Kepong MP Lim Lip Eng had asked that PTPTN write-off the loans for those in the B40 group as many of them had lost their jobs or had experienced loss of income due to the pandemic.
