SARAWAK General Hospital (SGH) is still investigating the sources of infection among its eight healthcare workers who recently tested positive for Covid-19.
State Health Department director Dr Chin Zin Hing said investigations are already underway.
“They are from the different clusters, but we are still investigating,” he said, adding that the mass screening in SGH should be completed in the next few days.
On Wednesday, a total of eight healthcare workers from the hospital tested positive for Covid-19.
The discovery was made after the mass screening for the clinical staff at SGH, Dr Chin said.
In total, 66 healthcare workers from the hospital have tested positive and SGH is one of the largest clusters in the state.
Last week, Health director-general Datuk Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said none of the Covid-19 cases related to the SGH cluster originated from the hospital’s Covid-19 wards or intensive care units (ICUs).
Most of the healthcare workers who were infected by the virus had gotten it outside the hospital.
