PAKATAN Harapan has questioned why the Prime Minister left out the coalition’s Menteri Besar and Chief Ministers from a high-level meeting today on the movement control order to curb Covid-19.
The coalition’s secretariat council said the Menteri Besar from Kedah, Selangor and Negri Sembilan and the Chief Ministers of Sabah and Penang were not invited to the meeting to discuss peoples’ movement between states. It is believed that the meeting was chaired by Muhyiddin in Putrajaya.
“Pakatan Harapan regrets Putrajaya’s decision not to invite the Menteri Besar and Chief Ministers. If this is due to political differences, then it is the people who will lose out,” the council said in a media statement.
It added that the states made up some 40 per cent of the country’s population and many of the Covid-19 patients come from these states.
“Efforts to contain Covid-19 that did not take into considerations a sizable portion of the country’s territory will not succeed. We call on Putrajaya to quickly convene a meeting with all Menteri Besar and Chief Ministers for the well-being and safety of the people,” the statement added.
