PARTI Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) Piasau branch chairman Sardon Zainal has strongly denied rumours of him joining opposition Parti Sarawak Bersatu (PSB).
“This is utter rubbish. There’s no truth to it.
“The rumourmongers better come out with more logical news than to simply cook up stories in the hope to sway the people’s sentiments towards PSB,” he said as reported by the New Sarawak Tribune.
On the resignation of Khairul Farillah Mohd Ali from PBB Piasau, Sardon said it would not have adverse effects on the branch’s strength and unity. Khairul is said to have moved to PSB.
On the contrary, it would further strengthen unity and the spirit of camaraderie among PBB Piasau branch leaders and members, he added.
“There’s no way his resignation could split our branch, let alone weaken our election campaign machinery.
“After all, he’s just an ordinary member and not the branch secretary,” he added.
Sardon said Suhaili Rosli is the branch secretary.
On the preparation by the branch to face the coming state election, he said, “Our machinery is well oiled and all geared up to assist SUPP (Sarawak United People’s Party) to defend the Piasau seat for GPS (Gabungan Parti Sarawak)”.
On a separate development, Sardon refuted claims by PSB that the state government, under GPS, had failed to resolve water and electricity problems faced by the people in the state.
He said GPS, particularly under the leadership of Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg, had allocated a record sum for implementation of power and water projects statewide.
Sometime in May, Utilities Minister Datuk Seri Dr Stephen Rundie also announced that the state government had increased the allocation of RM2.8 billion to RM4 billion for implementation and upgrading of the state’s water supply system, he added.
