THE wife of the pastor who died from Covid-19, claimed that three others who attended the church gathering in Kuching also tested positive for Covid-19 around the same time as her late husband.

“They came from Kuala Lumpur and attended the buffet lunch held at Good News Fellowship, hence, I believed my (late) husband got infected by them,” Sim Lee Na told Borneo Post.

“It was sad that people are still linking the church gathering cluster to my husband. He was a victim too,” she said.

The church gathering held from Feb 26 to 28 is among the two largest clusters in the country, involving over 100 of confirmed cases and two fatalities.

Sim added her husband Pastor David Cheng was from Emmanuel Baptist Church.

However, none of the church members got infected.

“If he was the source of infection since late February, most likely some of our church members would have tested positive too.

“In fact, he only infected our daughter and I,” she said.

She hoped the public will stop linking her husband with those confirmed cases from the church gathering.

Cheng fell sick on March 6 and suffered from shortness of breath on March 13.

He died at the Sarawak General Hospital at March 17, the first Covid-19 fatality in Sarawak.
