THE recovery rate for Covid-19 patients increased again today with a 62.4 per cent rate, with another 103 recovered cases today.

This brings the overall total to 3,452 recoveries from a total 5,532 cases nationwide.

“For today, we recorded a lower figure of 50 new cases, with 43 patients still being treated at the ICU, from which 25 are on ventilators,” said health director-general Datuk Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah.

One more death was reported as of noon today involving a 72-year old woman.

The patient had a history of cancer and high blood pressure and was warded to the Sarawak Hospital on April 12 and died at 9.15am today.

Dr Noor Hisham also said the ministry has since detected another cluster which started in Pengerang, Johor on March 12.

He said Case 1,508 was treated at a private clinic and was suspected of dengue fever.

The next day, the patient visited his relatives in different locations, including Selangor before returning to Pengerang on March 18.

His health continued to worsen and he was admitted to the Johor Hospital on March 20 in critical condition.

There, he was confirmed positive for Covid-19.

“As of April 22, this cluster now involves 15 positive Covid-19 cases, which are 10 of his friends and five family members including his 79-year-old mother.

“His 10-year-old daughter is also part of the cluster. Seven of those involved are being treated, while eight have since recovered and discharged,” said Dr Noor Hisham, adding that three are being treated in the ICU.
