MALAYSIANS returning from overseas will no longer need to quarantined at centres, instead they will only be required to be home quarantined.

Senior Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob said that starting June 10, Malaysians upon arrival will undergo a swab test for Covid-19.

“Those who are positive will be sent to the hospital for treatment. Those who are negative will undergo a 14-day quarantine in their own homes,’’ he said.

Those returning are required to download the MySejahtera application and will be issued a wristband for easy identification and monitoring by the authorities.

“All of their movements will be monitored through the application,’’ he said.

The minister added that those who are found to be flouting the rules can face a compound of RM1,000 or will be brought to court.

On another matter, Ismail Sabri said only Malaysians will be allowed to attend congregational and Friday prayers at mosques.

He said once rules are relaxed to allow more people in mosques, it will only apply to Malaysians.
