THERE is no plan to introduce Enhanced Movement Control Order (EMCO) in Sarawak to battle Covid-19 as the situation is under control.

Tourism, Arts and Culture Minister Datuk Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah said the state managed to reach a compliance rate of 96.5 per cent for MCO and there is no spike of Covid-19 cases in any areas.

After the clusters involving the tabligh gathering at the Seri Petaling Mosque and a church event had been identified, it is believed that there are no more large clusters in the state.

“We hope we won’t have to declare EMCO in any areas as once that is done, people will not be allowed to leave their homes and all businesses there will be closed. It causes inconveniences,” he said.

More disinfecting operations will be carried out in Kota Samarahan after the area has been classified as a red zone.

The district reported 42 positive cases from four suspected clusters. More test kits will alsobe provided to the screening centres there.
