FRONTLINE Covid-19 medical staff in Sarawak do not face threats and intimidation for speaking up on the ongoing vaccination programme, state health director Dr Chin Zin Hin said today.

He added that he had checked on this matter with the Health Director-General’s office in Putrajaya .

“His (the Health DG’s) special officer had said this was a non issue in Sarawak. The issue is only in Kelantan and Serdang in Selangor and at the Ministry level,” Dr Chin said in a statement.

Dr Chin was responding to a statement by Bandar Kuching MP Dr Kelvin Yii who criticised a recent circular by the Health Ministry prohibiting frontliners to speak up on the vaccination programme, including posting on their social media.

This came as several frontliners had taken to social media alleging that several VIPs had jumped queue in getting their Covid-19 vaccination.

Dr Yii had said that instead of taking action against frontliners who speak up, the Ministry should investigate the claims by the whistleblowers.
