New Covid-19 cases nationwide edge closer to three digits at 1,063

THE Health Ministry reported 1,063 new Covid-19 infections today, with Sarawak contributing 183, the second highest after Selangor at 323.

This is the lowest number of daily new cases nationwide since December 9, as expectations rise for the numbers to hit below 1,000 soon.

Health Director-General Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah who released the details today said the cumulative Covid-19 cases nationwide is now 326,034.

He also announced five new deaths, three of whom are from Sarawak, and five new clusters, of which three are also from the state. The three deaths were all reported in Sibu Hospital.

The three new clusters are Nanga Bulo in Julau, Kampung Hilir and Jalan Sanyan, both in Sibu. The first involved three long houses in Nangga Bulo, Entabai.

Kampung Hilir is a community cluster while Jalan Sanyan involved workers in a supermarket.
