New Covid-19 cases dip, lowest in almost two weeks; zero deaths

THE Health Ministry recorded 649 new Covid-19 cases today, the first time it dipped below 700 since Oct 16. This brings the total number of cases in the country to 30,090.

Of the new cases, seven were imported ones, while Sabah accounted for 352 cases. Selangor reported 132 cases, Negri Sembilan (43), Kedah (37), Kuala Lumpur (21), Labuan (17), Penang (13), Johor (10), Sarawak (eight), Perak five and one each in Pahang, Malacca, Terengganu and Putrajaya.

No new deaths were reported, with the tally holding at 246, health Director-General Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said in a statement. The last time there was zero deaths was on Oct 7.

As of noon today, 106 patients are in intensive care units nationwide with 23 requiring respiratory support.

Five new clusters were also reported today, comprising two each in Sabah and Selangor and one in Negri Sembilan.

Dr Noor Hisham also announced that 685 patients were discharged today, with the total now at 19,757 or a recovery rate of 65.7 per cent.
The last time new daily cases dipped below 700 was on Oct 16 where 629 were reported.
