MALAYSIA has recorded 105 new Covid-19 cases, after a record 16-day streak of having less than 100 new positive cases a day.
The latest figures came one day after the government announced plans to ease the Movement Control Order starting Monday, amid widespread concern that the move could undo the efforts to contain the spread of the pandemic so far.
The latest new cases bring the tally of Covid-19 cases to 6,176, of whom 4,326 patients have been discharged from hospitals, health director-general Datuk Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah announced today.
Of the new infections, 94 were local or community transmission, and 11 were imported cases.
No new deaths were reported as the total fatalities so far stand at 103.
There were 110 new cases on Apr 16, after which the trend started to decline, with the lowest on Apr 20 with 36 new cases.
