MOST of the children in Sarawak who tested positive for Covid-19, were infected by family members, said State Health Director Dr Chin Zin Hing.

“Most of them are doing well and only required supportive or symptomatic treatment,” he said when contacted today.

There are 23 Covid-19 patients in Sarawak who are below 12, including one who’s less than a year old.

Yesterday, Health Director-General Datuk Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said there are 317 Covid-19 positive cases among those below 12 years of age, of which 112 were aged below four and 22 below a year old.

There are no deaths among patients aged 12 and below.

“Selangor recorded the highest number of Covid-19 cases among children at 77, followed by Negeri Sembilan (48), Johor (46), Federal Territories of Kuala Lumpur and Putrajaya (28) and Sabah (26),” he added.

Dr Noor Hisham said besides the elderly, children are also in the high-risk group.

He urged parents to constantly remind their children to observe hygiene such as washing their hands regularly and wearing face masks when they go out.
