More economic activities now allowed during MCO

Several services such as barber shops, hardware and electronics shops, laundry shops, and spectacle shops will now be allowed to operate under the Movement Control Order (MCO) subject to strict conditions.

International Trade and Industry Minister Datuk Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali outlined in a statement, the sectors which will be allowed to operate, though in some sectors, limited activities are allowed.

In the case of barber shops, only the cutting of hair is permitted while only full service laundry shops will be allowed and not self-service shops.

Among the other sectors allowed to operate are:

– Automotive industry, but limited to the export of CBU units, parts and components, and after sales services such as maintenance;

– Aerospace industry;

– Construction projects and related services;

– Science, professional and technical services, but limited to those related to legal services, oil and gas industry, Covid-19 R&D and all related laboratory services;

– Registered traditional and complementary medicine services.
