More Covid-19 cases discovered at SGH


EIGHT healthcare workers in Sarawak have tested positive for Covid-19 over the last 24 hours, bringing the total number of healthcare workers who have been infected to 66.

State health director Dr Chin Zin Hing said that of the latest cases, seven of the healthcare workers who tested positive for the virus are from the Sarawak General Hospital (SGH) while one is from the Samarahan division health office.

“The detection was a result of the mass screening we conducted at SGH. We also found that many of the healthcare workers at SGH who tested positive for the virus are asymptomatic,” he said.

Meanwhile, one more Covid-19 death was recorded today, taking the country’s total death toll to 107.

During the past 24 hours, 45 cases were also recorded bringing total cases to 6,428.

The latest casualty was a 51-year-old man with a history of diabetes, high blood pressure and kidney problems. He died at the Hospital Sungai Buloh.

Health director-general Datuk Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said 135 patients were also discharged, taking total recoveries to 4,702 or 73.15% of all cases.
