KUCHING South City Council (MBKS) mayor Datuk Wee Hong Seng has been told to take care of all areas under his jurisdiction, instead of focusing on Pandungan only.
Michael Kong, a special aide to Sarawak DAP chairman Chong Chieng Jen, said the mayor should not neglect the opposition areas, namely Pending, Batu Lintang and parts of Kota Sentosa.
“Instead of spending most of his time with Padungan assemblyman Wong King Wei, he should also be visiting other areas under MBKS,” Kong said in a statement.
He claimed that the mayor was stuck in BN-way of politics, where only areas represented by GPS assemblymen were given priority.
Kong said the mayor should visit the Stampin Resettlement Scheme to learn how the community park at Lorong 2, Jalan Stampin Baru was poorly managed by the council.
“I have written numerous letters to MBKS regarding to the issues but it remains unsolved. Due to the inaction of the council, the DAP had to organise a communal work to remove all rubbish from the park,” he said.
He added that as a mayor of the people in Kuching South, Wee should be pushing for equal development and spending instead of accepting the ‘political reality’.
“He should fight for the state allocations from the government to be made available to all the assemblymen, regardless of political affiliations.
“This is for the benefit of the people and that is what politics should really be about.
“GPS should learn from Perak where all their state representatives will be getting equal allocations to enable them to properly serve the people,” he said.
