MAYBANK will close its Sibu Central Branch for two days starting today for disinfection of its premises.
The Borneo Post cited a statement by the bank that the disinfection exercise is being conducted as one of the branch's employees has came into contact with someone who had tested positive for Covid-19.
This process is being undertaken as part of the bank’s stringent precautionary measures to protect the health and wellbeing of its customers and employees, the statement said.
Maybank Head of Community Financial Services Malaysia Datuk Hamirullah Boorhan said the safety of Maybank employees and customers are their utmost priority.
“This precautionary measure we are taking is to ensure that any possible health risk is mitigated.
“We are working closely with the relevant health authorities to ensure that all health and safety protocols in this case are adhered to pending the test results of this employee,” he said.
He added that employees of the branch are currently on home leave while awaiting the completion of the sanitisation process and all health and safety protocols.
The branch will reopen for business on March 18.
For now, Maybank Sibu Central branch customers may perform their banking transactions via Maybank’s online and mobile banking channels or at any other Maybank branches
