KUCHING reported 16 new Covid-19 cases today, bringing the total number of cases in the last 14 days to 49 cases.
Sarawak disaster management committee (SDMC) chairman Dautuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas said Kuching has now turned into a red zone while the rest of the state remains as green zones.
He said that of the 16 cases, 12 were linked to the Baki Cluster.
Due to the high number of cases there, he said Kampung Haji Baki will be placed under enhanced movement control order (EMCO), starting tomorrow until Nov 10.
The 12 cases reported today in the village involves those aged between seven and 75, including five school children. There are a total of 25 positive cases in the village so far.
“Thus, we have decided that Kampung Haji Baki will be placed under lockdown,” he said at a press conference here today.
Uggah also said SDMC had decided that starting tomorrow, all reflexology centres and entertainment outlets will not allowed to open.
“Some of the recent Covid-19 cases were detected in these outlets. Besides, these premises are high risk areas and it is difficult to monitor if everyone adheres to the SOPs.
“Hence, we have ordered all these premises to close until further notice,” he said.
