King asks MPs to support the Budget 2021

THE King has urged all MPs to support the 2021 Budget when it is tabled in the Parliament for the wellbeing of the people and to heal the economy.

Yang di-Pertuan Agong Sultan Abdullah Sultan Ahmad Shah said this after granting a pre-cabinet meeting audience to Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin today.

In a statement issued by Comptroller of the Royal Household Datuk Ahmad Fadil Shamsuddin, the King said he was concerned about the state of the economy and the welfare of Malaysians during the Covid-19 pandemic.

“Sultan Abdullah urges all MPs to respect his decree advising them to immediately stop all political tussles and to focus on people’s welfare and the nation’s well-being, so that the 2021 Budget can be passed without any interruption.”

In the statement, Sultan Abdullah said the budget was important for the government and authorities, especially frontliners, to continue efforts to combat the Covid-19 pandemic.

Last Sunday, the King had rejected Muhyiddin’s bid for an emergency and told MPs to stop their bickering.

Sultan Abdullah again reminded today that political bickering for self-interest would not benefit the country and the people.

The King also expressed confidence in Muhyiddin’s ability to lead the nation during the current Covid-19 pandemic.
