ALL kindergartens in Sarawak are allowed to organise graduation ceremonies, but must follow the SOPs strictly, including no performances from the children.

Welfare Community Wellbeing, Women, Family and Childhood Development Minister Datuk Seri Fatimah Abdullah said the ceremony is restricted to one and a half hours while food and beverages must be packed for takeaways only.

“It cannot be held as the past years where we have children singing, dancing or other performances on stage.”

“This year they can only have a simple one where only certificate presentations and photo-taking sessions are permitted,” she said.

Fatimah said organisers must ensure that only 50% of the venue capacity is allowed, hence, kindergartens with more children can do it in series.

Other SOPs included everyone must wear a mask, practice social distancing, temperatures and details of all the attendees or participants to be recorded, she added.

Meanwhile, a total of 144 nurseries and 241 kindergartens in Sarawak had resumed operations with about 7,611 children returning to school as of Nov 30.
