THE people play a crucial role in battling the Covid-19 pandemic, said Health director-general Datuk Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah.

He reminded all Malaysians to play their part, adding that they were the key to stopping the spread of the deadly virus.

“Our hope at this time is that you continue to stay home and keep observing the Movement Control Order (MCO).

“You are crucial in flattening the curve, thereby enabling us more time and capacity to cater to your healthcare needs,” he said in a Facebook post today as reported in The New Straits Times.

In addressing this unprecedented situation, Dr Noor Hisham said new measures had been instituted, including the Movement Control Order (MCO).

He noted that though this was a steep learning curve for everyone, the health sector had planned and prepared for any possibility.

He also assured that all health personnel were doing their best to ensure the safety of all people, and that public health remained their priority.

Many of the health workforce, he added, had left loved ones at home and sacrificed time and comfort to be at the frontlines to treat patients.

“The ministry sees each and every one of you and we appreciate everything you have done and continue to do daily.

“The sincere dedication shown by every member of the health workforce in the face of this overwhelming pandemic is nothing short of amazing.

“We salute you, we appreciate you. We thank you all.”

Dr Noor Hisham also thanked contributors, from big or small organisations and even individual, who had shown generosity.

“On behalf of all of us at the frontline, I thank each and every one of you.”
