PARTI Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) senior vice-president Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof said GPS under the leadership of Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg had proven its capabilities.

“Firstly, when the country was hit by the Covid-19 pandemic, although the federal government channelled various assistance, the state government also provided help to everyone be it those who are in business or had lost their jobs.

“Secondly, the GPS government’s priority is to fight for the rights of Sarawak and this was proven where we witnessed our success in getting state sales tax (SST) payment from Petronas totalling RM2.95 billion,” he said today.

Fadillah said continuous negotiations would be carried out and there would be more announcements.

“Other than that he (Abang Johari) is also focused where he is committed to close the gap between the urban and rural areas.

“That is why you can see the coastal areas, the coastal road is being constructed,

“He is very committed and farsighted in giving the best to the people of Sarawak, so there is no reason why we should not support him,” he said as reported by the New Sarawak Tribune.

Fadillah added that, come the election, the opposition parties would make promises to win, but people should learn from the previous Pakatan Harapan (PH) government, which had failed to deliver their promises such as to pay the 20 percent on oil and gas royalty for Sarawak and returning 50 per cent of the tax revenue collected in Sarawak to the state government.

“Whoever says that GPS has denied the rights of Sarawakians, this is not true.

“So, I hope Sarawakian voters will give a chance to our Chief Minister to win and give the mandate to continue to lead Sarawak.”
