THE Sarawak Health Department has called on Sarawakians who showed Covid-19 symptoms to be screened for the virus immediately if they had visited any high risk areas over the past two weeks.
Its director Dr Chin Zin Hing said they could go for swabs at any health clinic or private hospitals.
He added that the department was particularly concerned about people who had travelled to areas like Sri Aman, Betong, Sibu, Kanowit, Dalat, Miri, Beluru and Sebauh in the last two weeks to visit family or friends, or attended weddings and funerals.
“If they are not feeling well and have developed symptoms like coughing, fever, sore throat, loss of taste and smell and fatigue and, had travelled to these high risk areas in the last two weeks, they are required to go for immediate screening,” he said in a statement.
Those who are ill and have symptoms and had been visited by family members and friends who had been at the high risk areas the last two weeks, should also do the same, he added.
“This is because there are many Covid-19 positive cases detected at the longhouses and homes in these high risk areas,” he said.
Sarawak has seen a spike in Covid-19 cases lately, particularly from the Pasai cluster, which has been linked to 1,474 positive cases, including 56 from yesterday.
Overall, 120 new cases were reported state-wide yesterday, bringing the total to 3,499 cases.
