THE government has allowed for visits during the Hari Gawai, Hari Kaamatan and Hari Raya festivals but only on the first day and limited to 20 people for the entire day.

Defence Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob said such visitations should involve family members only.

However, the size of the premises must be taken into consideration when determining the number of people in attendance at any one time, he told a media conference today.

“Let’s say (for a house measuring) 600 sq ft, 20 people will be too many people and impossible for social distancing,” he said.

He cautioned the public to be wary of Covid-19 spreading within family members and cited the example in Bahrain where a family of 16 ended up contracting the virus after breaking fast together.

Hari Raya is expected to fall on May 24, Kaamatan on May 30 and Gawai on June 2.
